When Lemons Give You Life promises a lemon meringue milkshake IPA flavour, sounds delicious and right up my street.
I have a real soft spot for Brew York Brewery after visiting and partaking in some beers and a bit of grub. Great place to visit if you ever get the chance.
As with all lactose beers I like them well chilled. On appearance it has a thick yellowy gold colour and quite a thin head. The aroma is unsurprisingly of lemons! The first sip is of lemon, sweetness with a hint of vanilla. It has a lovely creamy mouthfeel, its feels as luscious as a dessert. The aftertaste feels like I’ve just downed a glass of lemon barley water. This doesn’t feel like a beer at all which is odd but I like it.
I haven’t found a bad Brew York beer yet. Their beers make me feel happy, they are cheeky with their flavours and can design and I like that.
With over 200 different beers under their belt and a multitude of collaborations with breweries such as UnBarred, Vocation, North Brewing Co and local brewery Dig Brew Co they are keeping my shelves busy!
‘When Lemons Give You Life’ is a beer that’s not beery so if you like Lemon Meringue Pie then give it a whirl. It is sweet and full on dessert in a can so if you’re after the IPA that it promises on the can then leave well alone.
